Brazillian early 2000s Death post 10 of 10.
Ophiolatry is a term that refers to the worship of snakes. I chose this record to be my last post of this amazing scene of extreme Brazilian death because this band is wildly creative and this one being from 2008, the production is so clean that it's getting away from the Albini notion of 'the sound of a band in a room.' The scrubbed clean production robs the music of a lot of its urgency. Nevertheless, the music is so great that the album slays despite the flawed produciton, which was really just a sign of the times and not any fault of the band's, in my view. The record also boasts of these modern classical interludes that are really a treat. I can easily imagine that if I heard this when it came out I would have listened to it non-stop. As it is, it really does stand the test of time quite nicely.
