nothing new here, on this sub pop release. take mazzy star, sprinkle in some broadcast, some stereolab, and a pinch of cocteau twins maybe. it's a bit better than most of the output of those first two aforementioned bands, and not as good as the latter two. in any event, this has some decent songwriting, and is a great record for putting on on a sunday afternoon while folding laundry or something. there're a few regrettable songs on there, it must be noted; i recommend skipping over tracks 6, 7, and 8. otherwise, it's a bit like waking up from a nap with a mouthful of cotton candy. they went for it and i'm diggin' it.

Hailz Promise and Warning Readers!
This is the 295th post of this blog in it's year and a half long life. The days of music blogging may be numbered. I posted an album last month. The link was taken down. I reposted it, and now it's down again. In place of the link, is a link of how to buy the album in question on amazon. Fair enough!
We'll let cyberspace police itself, what choice do we have. In the meantime, we'll continue to post albums we think you should own. The download links may not stay up for very long. In the event of encountering a broken link, we recommend users try filestube, rapidlibrary, thepiratebay, isohunt, or google. That's where we find 99.9% of the links, unless we upload them ourselves.
In the 90s, I turned to labels and cities to turn me on to new music. There were times when I would buy a tape from any band from Seattle, San Diego, Loisville, Pittsburgh, or Chicago. Just to check them out. Long before the interwebs.
In the digital scorched earth landscape, the music industry is still kicking. Hopefully a reconcilliation can be found, perhaps sites like soundcloud and bandcamp can rise to serve a more prominant role, and artists can gain revenues via those sites. In the mean time, this year, I am going to endeavor incorporate some of my pre-internet crate digging practices, and check out more label rosters and see what bands are from where and who's touring with who, just in an effort to get reaquainted with the interconnectedness of it all. This will be reflected in my future posts.
