The Cairo Gang - 'The Corner Man' (2012)
It's easy to listen to the first song on this record and dismiss this record as being a rip off of the styles of Will Oldham. But, if you're thinking that, then that means you're a fan of Oldham's music, and that means you probably know that these guys all made a record together in the past. I say let's think about Cairo Gang as part of the family. This cover even looks kinda like an homage to Oldham's album, 'Days In the Wake'. The fact is, 'The Corner Man' is an excellent record, song for song, much better than most of Oldham's recent output. Looking forward to hearing more of this act in the future. _alibi
