after listening to spearhead's excellent record 'theomachia' on repeat several times, i became obsessed with their sounds and began to look for precedents. in nearly every review i read of 'theomachia' - and i read over a half a dozen reviews of that record, all terribly written but that's beside the point - the name angelcorpse cropped up all over the place. naturally, i then moseyed on over to ye olde encyclopedia metallum to take a gander at this band's output. since they're a band that's been together since the early 90's it was not surprising to see that their mid period output seemed to have garnered a lot more positive reviews than their later stuff. i copped the record before this one, which is called exterminate, for no better reason than the fact that it had all of these rave reviews to it's credit... and the record sleeve has this really rad pink artwork with all these crazy tanks on it. sadly, the music contained therein left me underwhelmed. i could see the connection to spearhead, but exterminate did not sound nearly as threatening now some twenty years after its release. still, a couple days later, instinct told me to dig a little deeper. so i copped this one, and - indeed - this is ferocious.
