I discovered the music of Russ Lossing doing some online crate digging in search of beautiful piano trio records. This one is a modern marvel. What drew my attention to it is that John Hebert fills the bass duties on this one, and he's one of my favorites currently at work. Lossing is a rather under-sung pianist, from what I can tell. You can read press he's recieved more easily over here at his website than you can via a google search, like so many newspaper clippings lovingly assembled by someone's mom rather than a reflection of due adoration from the press. Regardless of the fact that he seems to not have received his due, he makes very great records as you will find if you cop this.
