I began exploring techno with gusto approximately around the beginning of 2017 give or take. My approach when things speak to me, be they books film or music, is often to try to cast a wide net at the contemporaries of that thing, and then work backwards chronologically at a crawl. For example, when bowled over by hearing the album 'Dookie' for the first time, it would not behoove me to take a quantum leap backwards and check out 'Nevermind The Bullocks...' because that might sound like a far cry. So that's largely been my approach to house and techno music this year. Now that it's July and I've been looking into this daily for more than half the year, I feel a bit more comfortable casting the net a bit farther back. This record, Garden On The Palm, was a watershed moment for me. This raises the bar for me, since this level of music was put out as far back as 1993, and increases what it takes to impress me as far as what is being put out in 2017. A's turn to B's turn to C's, A+ turn to A.
