“Diamond D... here
Dr. Dre... there in the back...
Okay folks, this is Intro to Turntablism. We'll be meeting here most days, some days we'll spend the class in the lab, but I'll let you know as those days come up. I hope most of you have copies of the main texts for this course, Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience... you will absolutely need those to pass this course. Personally I think they are the cornerstones of the Rap & HipHop Studies degree, but you will find their importance as the class progresses. If you need strings or drum breaks they will be invaluable. If you pay attention and participate you should have no trouble doing well in this class. One note, James Brown breaks will not be tolerated.”
