i'm obsessed with compilations right now, and these recent ones from o.p.a.l. t.a.p.e.s. are stellar. i feel like the idea of not having enough good music to listen to in 2017 is like the thought of not having enough clean air to breathe or not having enough trees in one's surroundings. wait, i didn't mean for that metaphor to be about how we are destroying our planet. shit.

i checked this out because it is on the same label as alex smoke's wraetlic record, which i think is choice. hilt is a banger of a record. the fifth tune on this record, synen, should make some summer party playlists. it reminds me of the penultimate track off of the last duck fight goose record, called horse. that is high praise indeed.

resident adviser once wrote about this artist saying, 'Metrist makes broken techno, but not in the sense that term usually implies.' i think that's pretty funny. make of that what you will. this is good stuff. for fans of rabit or lord raja, i'd say.

tasty sultry soul from the inimitable lady wray. the black keys serve as her back up band here and they truly sizzle with skills. songs about real life issues like that time your brother got locked up or those times when your broke and you gotta ask your partner to spot you some funds to go out and have some funs.
